Lake Life Chronicles: Eagles, Herons & Loons

Lake Life Chronicles: Eagles, Herons & Loons

My love of nature, photography, and being a grammie inspired this compilation of fun facts, exercises, and “Where’s Wildlife” photos, to help you develop an “eagle” eye—to increase your awareness and appreciation for the nature around you.

A few years ago, I wrote a little “Where’s Waldo” book for my grandchildren. Waldo was a toad. In each photo, a bird or animal was asked if they had seen Waldo, and my grandkids would have to find the animal or bird in the photo. My 9-year-old granddaughter was visiting this winter and asked if I was going to do another book like that for them. Who doesn’t like to search for hidden treasures?

That book was a compilation of 4x6 photos stapled together. Now that my grandchildren are a bit older, I decided to take my granddaughter’s request to heart, and this 24-page 8½ x 11-inch, professionally published magazine is what emerged. It is a compilation of detailed photos of eagles, herons, and loons I have taken over the years, sprinkled with some fun facts about each, and utilizing those facts to help with identifying these 3 birds in their natural settings.

My hope is that these detailed photos and exercises connect kids and adults alike with a reverence and appreciation for the natural awe, wonder, and beauty all around us.

The magazine was beautiful quality and a big hit with my grandchildren and friends, so I decided to make it available for purchase. Below are some sample facts and photos (on a smaller scale) to give you an idea. The photos really come alive in the larger scale of the magazine.
