My Favorite Love Quotes

My Favorite Love Quotes

I live for love. It’s my favorite subject. It's what I teach about in my counseling and coaching sessions. It's the place that I strive to come from with my thoughts, words and actions. In love is where I strive to live; sometimes easier said than done but if you strive to live there too, then I'm sure you already know that.

In honor of Valentine’s Day I decided to pull out all the love quotes that I have gathered over the years. I ended up with well over 100. I am sharing 30 of my favs (not in any particular order) with you in case you are a fan of love quotes, too, or maybe you find yourself struggling with love this Valentine's Day and could benefit from some words of wisdom.

  1. "When we love a person, we accept him or her exactly as is: the lovely with the unlovely, the strong along with the fearful, the true mixed in with the facade, and of course, the only way we can do it is by accepting ourselves that way." ~ from The World According to Mister Rogers
  2. "When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, "I am in the heart of God."" ~ Khalil Gibran
  3. "To love someone long-term is to attend a thousand funerals of the people they used to be. The people they are too exhausted to be any longer. The people they don’t recognize inside themselves anymore. The people they grew out of, the people they never ended up growing into. We so badly want the people we love to get their spark back when it burns out; to become speedily found when they are lost. But it is not our job to hold anyone accountable to the people they used to be. It is our job to travel with them between each version and to honor what emerges along the way. Sometimes it will be an even more luminescent flame. Sometimes it will be a flicker that disappears and temporarily floods the room with a perfect and necessary darkness." ~Heidi Priebe
  4. "Every loving thought is true. Everything else is an appeal for healing and help, regardless of the form it takes." ~A Course in Miracles
  5. “To the people who love you, you are beautiful already. This is not because they’re blind to your shortcomings but because they so clearly see your soul. Your shortcomings then dim by comparison. The people who care about you are willing to let you be imperfect and beautiful, too.” ~ Victoria Moran
  6. "You cannot save people. You can only love them." ~Anais Nin
  7. “Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we have learned here. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts.” ~ Marianne Williamson
  8. "Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~Anatole France
  9. "You must love in such a way that the other person feels free." ~Thich Nhat Hanh
  10. "You have to be love to receive love, … people in your day to day relationships, will act as sharpening tools until you become the perfect recipient for love, like the good ol’ BOOK says in proverbs : iron sharpens iron, so does one man another. So, be the love you want to have. Remember; you cannot give what you don't have, and you cannot receive what you're not ready or prepared for, perfect gifts come only from above with courtesy from love.” ~Geraldine Vermaak
  11. "The more we love the more we bring God into this world." ~Shawn Achor
  12. "An honorable human relationship – that is, one in which people have the right to use the word love – is a process, delicate, violent, often terrifying . . . , a process of refining truths they can tell each other.  It is important to do this because it breaks down self-delusion and isolation… It is important to do this because we can count on so few people to go that hard way with us." ~Adrienne Rich
  13. “We were meant to love people and use things. Yet we love things and use people. Let us reclaim our true purpose.” ~ Source unknown
  14. "The pure element of love will expand the soul, giving it a capacity for higher attainments, for increased knowledge of heavenly things, so that it will not rest short of the fullness." ~Ellen White
  15. “I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, "How many good things have you done in your life?" rather he will ask, "How much Love did you put into what you did?"" ~ Mother Teresa

When you see all of creation as a part of you it allows you to stop separating yourself from others and to start treating people with an open heart and respect. Of course, if you have a hard time loving and respecting yourself then you need to start there. The more you love, accept and respect yourself the easier it is to treat others with compassion and respect.” ~Cari Campbell
