Love Those Win-Win's

Love Those Win-Win's

I was in the middle of a session today when someone knocked on my door despite my "In Session" sign. It was an elderly woman with a cane. She was lost, frazzled, frustrated and second guessing her judgment.

The woman she was looking for was upstairs but the layout of the second floor is a bit confusing. She was hoping for an elevator and had clearly been upstairs via another stairwell before coming back to the first floor and knocking on my door.

I genuinely felt for her, but I felt for my client too. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to escort her upstairs, but I also wanted to continue with the valuable dialogue I was engaged in with my client. In that moment of indecision I knew that I wanted all of our needs to be met versus one at the expense of the other.

No sooner had I silently expressed my desire for this win-win-win when a woman walks through the door. She heads toward the staircase and I ask her if she's familiar with the building. Come to find out she was going to the same office as the elderly woman and was delighted to be able to escort her up the stairs and to the office.

Not only was that easy, but what a perfect example of a win-win for my client to witness. Some of life's resolutions just can't be conjured up without divine intervention. Universal intelligence is brilliant!

So fun and thanks for the live tutorial!
